To do well in school, you need to study; and to study, you need study material. This is why your notes are so important! It goes without saying that you should try to take good notes, so you have solid foundation to study from later on.

So, in order to help you out, The Tutoring Center in Middletown has a few tips you can use to improve your note-taking abilities. You can even take this list with you to school, to remind you of what needs to be done in order to take good notes!

How to Take Better Notes

1. Be organized, keep a section and/or folder for each subject, and use them accordingly.

2. Add a date and title on each notebook page to avoid confusion.

3. Keep your note-taking tools near (sharpener, eraser, pencil, etc.), so you don’t have to search for them and miss information.

4. Write with your best penmanship so you don’t have trouble reading it later on.

5. Make sure to form comprehensible sentences that will actually help you study.

6. Focus on writing down punctual information to avoid getting left behind in class.

7. Use colors and highlighters to make important information stand out.

8. Aim to keep your notebook as clean as possible (no doodling, dirt or lots of mistakes).

9. Reread your notes at the end of the class to see if you understand everything that was mentioned.

10. If you missed something or have questions, make sure to ask your teacher about it.
